WHAT WE HAVE FUNDED - HOW WE AND OUR PARTNERS BENEFIT OUR COMMUNITY

2025 Grants and Sponsorships
The Hamden Seed Library: a joint project of the Hamden Land Conservation Trust and the Hamden Public Library, $3,218.  Specifically, they plan to establish a tool library through which participants may check out tools to which they may not otherwise have access, conduct educational seed propagation workshops, and create educational outreach materials.
New Haven Ecology Project, Every Child Outside, $7,500.  Common Ground’s Field trip program enables pre-school through 8th grade youth living in urban areas to experience activities that help them gain an understanding of the interconnectedness of our natural planet and our important roles as caretakers.
West River Riparian Buffer Restoration, Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited, $7,247.  This is a volunteer riparian restoration project along 250 linear feet of the West River at West Rock State Park in New Haven that involves removing invasive species and replanting with native plants.
Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven, Newhallville STREET Garden Development and Greater New Haven Organic Gardening Classes. $6.700. Specifically, this project will develop a new community garden at 254 Shelton Avenue, New Haven, CT 06511, dubbed the STREET Garden.  
New Haven Coalition for Active Transportation (NCAT), $8,800.  Our grant supports 5 New Haven Bike Month Events that encourage active transportation as an alternative to driving.  In addition, NCAT will organize and host 5 walk audits at and around New Haven public schools.

Shoreline Greenway Trail, Internships and Community Outreach/Engagement, $6,570. Interns will do outreach, mapping, archiving, technical support, and events that increase awareness for community members near the trail of the existing trail sections and proposed route in East Haven and New Haven.
Radical Adventure Riders New Haven, Build a Bike Class $4,466.  A cohort of 8 people will build a bike in a six-week class, get a tool kit and follow up with a celebratory bikepacking trip. 
New Haven Urban Resources Initiative, Tree Ambassadors 2.0, $4,500. This program seeks to improve tree planting in neighborhoods with low tree canopy .   
New Haven Leon Sister City Project (NHLSCP), DeCARbonize our Oceans, $7,000.
 The DeCARbonize campaign will educate students, the public, and New Haven’s City leadership about how our current car-centric transportation system

SCSU Office of Sustainability, Integrating Land and Marine Stewardship with Kelp at the SCSU Campus Community Garden - $9,980: Partnering with a CT aquaculture company to harvest kelp and evaluate using it as a soil amendment in growing crops.
River Advocates of South Central CT: Impaired River Investigation - $5,000: Student interns will sample local rivers to inform us and CT's DEEP (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection) about the health status of our local rivers. 
Southwest Conservation District: Farm River Greenway Trail - $10,000: Seed grant money to develop a greenway in East Haven, CT.  This the first grant we have awarded to this organization and the second grant awarded in East Haven in ten years.  
New Haven Urban Resources Initiative: Park Score for Environmental Justice - $8,000: Survey parks in New Haven for more equitable allocation of resources in the future.
New Haven Leon Sister City Project: Climate Leadership Organizing - $7,500: Youth-led advocacy to ask political entities to approve policies that address climate change.
